Shanghai Paddington Kindergarten Opening

This September saw the official opening of Haskoll’s first dedicated Kindergarten scheme. The Paddington Kindergarten part of Jiao Tong University Educational Area welcomed children through its doors, a previous primary school that has been fully refurbished. Haskoll’s role included both architecture, interior and landscape design. Externally the building was completely redesigned culminating in a large inviting new entrance with green roof and colourful cladding. 

The interior was meticulously re-planned to provide 16 classrooms with adjoining bathrooms laid out over 5 floors able to accommodate over 1,000 students. As well as classrooms the brief called for a new welcome lobby, parent meeting rooms, a multi-function hall and student canteen.  

In additional equal attention has been give to the landscape design. Haskoll have provided a new gate house and canopy to allow for a school bus drop off area. The landscape was split into 4 themes; Sports, Water Park, Flower Garden and Oriental Garden. The central atrium was converted into an outdoor play area which incorporated a tension canopy to protect from the weather. 

Having the opportunity to design all aspects of the site from concept design through to construction we have been able to deliver to our client a complete and fully realized vision.
