In June 2023, the UK DIT Delegation visited Shaanxi Province for inspection and exchange. The delegation was led by Sohail Shaikh, Minister Counsellor of the British Embassy in China. The delegation consisted of nine leading British companies in the creative sector, including Haskoll&Ryder, with the aim of strengthening cultural and tourism exchange and cooperation between the UK and Shaanxi.

On June 6, the delegation visited the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. They were received by Meng Xiangguo, the Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. Zhu Yaoxun, the Deputy Inspector of the department, along with personnel from the Department of External Cooperation and Exchange, Resources, and Industry, were present at the meeting. Mr. Henry Yang, Managing Director of Haskoll&Ryder China, accompanied the delegation and attended the meeting.

Meng Xiangguo extended a warm welcome to the visit of Sohail Shaikh and the delegation. He provided a concise overview of the cultural and tourism resources in Shaanxi and emphasized the UK's significance as a key market for the province. Over the years, Shaanxi has maintained close ties with the British cultural and tourism industry through its active participation in the London International Tourism Trade Fair and the organization of promotional events in the UK. Meng Xiangguo expressed confidence that today's meeting would further strengthen the collaborative efforts between the two parties. Additionally, he extended an invitation to British artists and entrepreneurs to join the 9th Silk Road International Art Festival and the 8th Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo in Xi'an.

Sohail Shaikh expressed gratitude to the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism for providing a platform for communication between British and Shaanxi enterprises. He also expressed his desire to strengthen cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation between the two sides through events such as the London International Tourism Trade Fair.

Members of the delegation conducted promotional presentations, engaging in in-depth discussions on various topics such as brand building, IP licensing, project development, planning and design, standard implementation, and spatial design.

During the three-day visit, the delegation visited various departments and companies, including the Qujiang New District, Qujiang Cultural Tourism Group, Qujiang Cultural Industry Investment Group, Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration, Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum, Small Wild Goose Pagoda Historical and Cultural Area, MOMO Park, as well as the Xixian New Area and the Xianyang Airport T5 Station Business District. They engaged in specialized discussions and exchanges on cultural and creative topics with each unit visited.
