From Idea to Reality

In architecture one of the most fulfilling aspects of design is seeing a pure and simple idea turned into a beautiful building. The process is not always simple but the best results are when the purity and simplicity of the idea is retained in the finished product.

The process begins with inspiration and a sketch, so I thought I would share some of Haskoll’s Chinese projects over the last 10 years to show how a simple sketch has become a piece of architecture.

Unusually this post contains no CGI images, only hand sketches and photographs and shows in itself that the design process does not rely on a computer generated image. Rather that it has become the communication tool of choice in recent years. The generating of an idea does not rely on computer generated images although we have become dependent upon computers for the representation of realism before the idea is built.

These projects are located right across China and it is a privilege to be part of the radical change that has taken place in the urbanisation of China. Here are just a few of those projects and you will see that this process of realising an idea has been applied by Haskoll to large urban design projects right through to interior spaces.

Each time with our idea we aim to create memorable places that will retain fond memories and feelings for the people they serve.
