China UK University Exchange Dinner
University of East Anglia (UEA) held an international exchange dinner on April 6 in Beijing. Many professors and alumni were invited. Peter Goldsmith, Chairman of Haskoll, was one of the VIP guests. Peter was the key speaker at UEA International Forum on Feb 13 2019. He talked on the subject of The China Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) based on his experience establishing an architectural practice in China for almost 10 years. Haskoll has done more than 50 projects home and abroad, including many high profile projects for Evergrande, Tahoe, Shimao, Wanda and Mangrove resorts among many others.

Professor David Richardson, UEA Vice Chancellor gave a talk on Chinese and UK relationships and truly values the bilateral ties. During Brexit, he believes there’s more opportunity for both countries on education. David welcome more students join UEA in the future. UEA is the UK TOP 5 universities and World TOP 200.
Professor Zhu, from China Academy of Sciences, is positive on Brexit-"UK may leave EU but China can be a powerful partner. UEA and China Academy of Science have good working relationship for many years. Together they educated thousands of students and done many research paper together. The future is very promising.
Clare Pearson, past chair of The British Chamber of Commerce was invited. She commented that this was a good opportunity for bilateral relationships. Clare and Karen, UEA Head of international office exchanged their informed views on education.
With an ending picture, Peter hopes the China UK will adhere to the long-term and strategic vision, firmly grasp the overall situation and the general trend in bilateral relations, and always regard each others’ potential. The relationship has injected positive energy and pushed China UK relations to move steadily along the right track.
