Peter Goldsmith spoke as one of the key speakers to an international audience at the University of East Anglia (UEA) on the subject of The China Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) based on his experience setting up and establishing an architectural practice in China.
Introduced by the university's Vice Chancellor, Prof David Richardson and along with Vivienne Stern, Director, Universities UK International (UUKi) and Prof Nick Selby, Chair, North America Dialogue, Peter shared how he has successfully established Haskoll Beijing with it's head China office in Beijing and branch office in Shanghai.
Peter picked up the theme of "connection" describing how as with the BRI Haskoll's projects always seek to establish 5 types of connection: Physical, Environmental, Social , Economic and Cultural.
His talk explained clearly and informatively the scale and importance of China's Belt and Road Initiative with many examples of Haskoll's work across China completed over the last 10 years.
The Belt and Road Initiative is impacting the whole world with over 70 countries involved and affecting over half of the world's population the opportunities and challenges are of huge proportion and reflect China's readiness to engage with the world community.
